From idea to impact: Re-engineering for sustainability

As an engineer, you have more sustainability leverage than you realise. Learn how you can capitalise on this when developing product and production systems.

Engineers have more sustainability leverage than is often realised. Their decisions when designing and developing a new product will account for 80% of its lifecycle carbon footprint.

Summary

As an engineer, you have more sustainability leverage than you realise. Learn how you can capitalise on this when developing product and production systems.

This webinar is designed for those that have already understood the need for sustainability but are eager to know how to maximise product, economic, environmental and social sustainability.

Engineers and engineering managers have high levels of influence in building the business case for improved sustainable product design, development and manufacturing. End consumers, businesses in a supply chain and investors are becoming increasingly more demanding that the products and services they use have been developed and produced on a sustainable basis.

Products are produced and consumed in systems. These ‘systems’ in the past were often regarded as linear; namely design, produced, finite-use and dispose. Today, circular systems which rethink how product resources are used and reused are offering new business opportunities. The measurement of CO2e is, however, extremely complex and one that will require new thinking.

This webinar and subsequent course(s) focus on helping engineers and their organisations to understand how to assess and quantify sustainability.  This includes the respective supply chains, product use and end of life strategies that go far beyond just “going green”. Sustainable New Product Introduction (NPI) and LEAN approaches are necessary for product development, life extension and renewability.
