Jelena provides the corporate focus for education within the Institution and is responsible for managing a coordinated programme of education projects, committees and activities. She works with key member led Boards to help to define the Institution’s education and skills strategy and oversees the delivery of education priorities. Jelena provides leadership on safeguarding matters and compliance of safeguarding requirements. Jelena joined the Institution of Mechanical Engineers in 2019 to lead the Education Team and oversee the Student Challenge Portfolio. She brings unique experience of both education and the volunteer community, having spent time at a school in North-West London, before moving to a membership organisation in the finance industry. She has utilised her experience and diverse skillset to grow and develop one of the UK’s the largest STEM Ambassador cohorts within the Institution, which currently engages almost 10,000 UK members. Jelena is also the internal Social Corporate Responsibility Lead at the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, working across the Institution to increase engagement in socially responsible activities, focusing on charitable and/or environmental initiatives.
